It’s the dog days of summer, with three-digit temperatures in much of the country.  However, those who love fashion are already thinking about what they’re going to wear in the coming fall months.

The people at Pantone, whose mission it is to forecast color trends in fashion and décor, have been busy.  For autumn 2010, they’ve forecast some lovely colors, some of which may seem interesting choices for that time of year.

Fashion forecasters and designers are cognizant of the economic climate – how could they not be?  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, has stated: “Mindful of consumers’ need for practicality, plus their desire for newness, designers offer many options for women to extend and embellish their wardrobes this fall.”

The color palette for fall 2010 includes:  Purple Orchid, a purple leaning to fuchsia; Chocolate Truffle, a deep, rich tone; and Woodbine, an airy, neutral green.  Taken together, these three colors are perfectly evocative of nature.

For a tropical feel, there’s Lagoon, a shade of turquoise; Lipstick Red, a dramatic red; and Golden Glow, an earthy shade of yellow.

Living Coral, a soft pinkish orange; Endive, a fresh yellow-green; and Oyster Gray, a classic. Rose Dust, a beige with a touch of lilac, rounds out the color selection.

Color is a gift of nature; enjoy it.

'Til next time.
